S2 Butterfly Farm Gate designs

These wonderful designs have been created by the 2nd years. They made initial research drawings of butterflies and flowers whilst taking inspiration from the works of Art Nouveau artists and designers such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh. They developed their ideas using symmetry to design a pair of gates in pencil. Their final gate designs were created using watercolours to convey stained glass and black pen to suggest the lead to hold the pieces of coloured glass together.

S2 Pepper Studies – Mrs Watson

This has been a pretty tricky task but despite this they have used proportion effectively and the vibrancy of colours and textures have been portrayed to a high standard.

In the art department we often use the natural environment as inspiration for our pupils to create their own artwork. These images show the work of S3 pupils who have worked well to produce a great display titled ‘Coniferous Contours’. Here are some images to give you a feel for the effort these 3rd year pupils have shown throughout this project.
