Young Ambassadors 17/09/2014

Ross Strachan and Craig Paterson from S6 were selected to attend this year’s Regional Young Ambassadors (YA) conference on 9 September. The event was held at the EICA in Ratho and was attended by around 100 pupils from schools across the region.

The national programme sees schools select 2 new YA’s each year that will be ambassadors for sport with their school and local community.

The conference was this year lead by Euan Burton, Commonwealth Gold medal winning Judo Player, and was also attended by Eve Muirhead, Winter Olympic medal winning curler.

The YA’s attended various workshops looking at how they can raise the profile of sport within their schools, how to engage more pupils in sport and generally how to carry out their roles. Both Ross and Craig came away from the event inspired and motivated to develop sport with ICHS.

They will be soon looking to start some new initiatives within the school, with the help of Caitlin Knox, our YA of last year, so look out for them around the school be ready to get involved.
